What Is an Unscheduled News Event

An unscheduled news event is news nobody had a time for, a statement, a strike, a tariff, with no calendar row, no forecast and no minute to stand back from, and it shows as a bar out of nowhere on several markets at once. This paper shows you the event in five lines; the idea as a fire alarm with no drill scheduled; the same five minutes on 23 March 2026 on the euro, up 132.6 pips, and on gold, up 139.88 dollars, on real bars; and the News tab of your platform, where the unscheduled kind first appears while the Calendar tab says nothing.

An unscheduled event in five lines

An unscheduled news event is news that nobody had a time for. A statement out of a government, a strike, a resignation, a tariff announced at a lectern. It differs from the scheduled kind in every way that matters: no row on the calendar, no forecast to read it against, no minute to stand back from. It shows as a bar out of nowhere, usually on several markets in the same five minutes, and it does what the scheduled kind does without the warning: the spread opens, stops are run, and the first bar is not the last. On Monday 23 March 2026 at 13:05 on the feed's clock the euro against the dollar rose 132.6 pips, where a pip is the fourth decimal place of the price, and gold rose 139.88 dollars, in the same five minutes.

A fire alarm with no drill scheduled

Picture a fire alarm on the wall. A scheduled release is a fire drill: the notice said Friday at 15:30, everyone stood in the car park at 15:29, and the bell was no surprise. This bell rings with no drill on the noticeboard. It is the same bell, and the exits fill in the same second, and the only difference is the sign, which is the whole difference for a trader: with the drill you could be outside before it rang; with this one you are wherever you were when it went off.
