What Is Silver Trading (XAG/USD)

Silver on a platform is the symbol XAG/USD, the price of one troy ounce in dollars, read exactly like gold except that a lot is 5,000 ounces rather than 100, so a cent of price is 50 dollars at one lot instead of one. This paper shows you silver in five lines; the gold-silver ratio drawn as one gold coin and a tray of about 93 silver ones, using the real gold price of 25 August 2026 and an example silver rate; the two metals' lots side by side; a ten-cent move at three sizes; and the Specification on your platform where the contract size of 5,000 is the line to read.

Silver trading, in five lines

Silver on a platform is the symbol XAG/USD, XAG being its code in the list of currencies, priced as dollars per troy ounce. The number is in the tens of dollars, 50.00 as a round example rate, since this library holds no silver bars. One lot is 5,000 ounces at most brokers, 250,000 dollars at that rate, so a cent of price is 50 dollars at one lot; the smallest step is often a tenth of a cent, three decimals in the row. The gold-silver ratio is the gold price divided by the silver price: 4638.34, the real gold price at 10:00 on 25 August 2026, divided by 50 is 92.8 ounces of silver to one of gold.

One gold coin and a tray of silver ones

Picture one gold coin beside a tray of silver ones: about 93 silver ounces, which is what one gold ounce was worth at the example silver rate of 50 dollars and the real gold price of 4638.34 on 25 August 2026. That count is the gold-silver ratio, and it moves as the two prices move: when silver is cheap the tray is fuller, when it is dear, emptier. XAG/USD itself is the price of one coin on the tray, in dollars, and it is that number the platform charts.
