What Is EUR/USD

This paper shows you the pair in five lines with the real prices of 25 August 2026; the idea as a balance with a euro on one pan; the pair on the daily chart from June to September 2026; that one day laid out as a ruler, 28.4 pips from low to high and what that is in dollars at three sizes; and the Market Watch row and Specification window on your platform.

EUR/USD, in five lines

EUR/USD is the euro priced in dollars, the most traded pair in the forex market. EUR comes first and USD second, so the number is how many dollars one euro costs: 1.16526 at 10:00 on Tuesday 25 August 2026 in this library's bars. A pip is the fourth decimal place, so 1.16526 to 1.16536 is one pip. One lot is 100,000 euros, which at that price is 116,526 dollars, and a pip at one lot is 10 dollars. That day the pair ran from a low of 1.16511 to a high of 1.16795, 28.4 pips, which is 284 dollars at one lot from top to bottom.

A balance

Picture a balance with one euro on the left pan and dollars on the right. The beam levels when the dollars weigh the same as the euro, and the number of them it takes is the price: 1.16526 dollars on 25 August 2026, a little more than one. When the euro grows heavier, more dollars are needed and the number rises; when it grows lighter, fewer, and the number falls. The pair is that balance read every second, and every bar on the chart is where the beam stood.
