How to Trade a Small Account Without Gambling

A small account is traded with the same rules at smaller sizes, and gambling on one is the size that makes a single trade matter. This paper shows you a 500-dollar account with the one-percent rule kept at 0.02 lot on the euro, and the real 17 December 2025 trade at that size; the idea as a ship in a bottle, the whole ship made small; the size ladder from 0.01 to 1.00 lot with what each rung costs; what the small size buys, an account that lasts the course; and the symbol specification on your platform, where the minimal volume is written.

The same rule, at a small size

A small account is traded with the same rule at a size that fits it. The account is 500 dollars and one percent of it is 5. On the euro against the dollar at 0.01 lot, where a lot is the standard trade size and 0.01 is its smallest slice, one pip is worth ten cents. A 25-pip stop at 0.02 lot is 5 dollars, one percent, the rule kept. The same stop at 0.10 lot is 25 dollars, five percent, and at 0.50 lot it is 125, a quarter of the account on one trade. The 17 December 2025 trade, bought at 1.17166 and closed 25 pips up, made 5 dollars at 0.02 lot. It was the same trade as 200 dollars at 0.40. Only the size, and the account, were smaller.

A ship in a bottle

Picture a ship in a bottle. It is exact: the mast, the sails, the hull and the rigging are all there and all in proportion, and it would sail if it were big. Nothing was left out to make it fit the bottle; the whole ship was made small, and that is the skill. A small account is a ship in a bottle. The plan is the whole plan, the stop is the plan's stop, the percent is one percent, and the size is what shrinks. The gambler's mistake is to keep the size and throw out the rigging, so that the ship fits the bottle and cannot sail.
