How Copied Trades Are Sized to Your Account

A copied trade is sized by a share, not a lot: the provider's lot times your loaded money over the provider's money, times the ratio of the two leverages, rounded down to your broker's lot step and skipped below the smallest lot. This paper shows the sizing as a reducing copier, the arithmetic on one real EURUSD trade with example accounts, the lot ladder where the result is rounded, skipped or capped, and the two screens on your platform where every factor is read. After reading it you can work out the size of a copy before it arrives, and trace an unexpected size back to the factor that set it.

Copy sizing, in five lines

The platform never copies a lot; it copies a share of an account. The provider's lot, the unit a trade is sized in, is published as a share of the provider's money. Your money is your deposit times the load you allow: 2,000 dollars at 95 percent in this paper's example, 1,900. The ratio is your loaded money over the provider's, 1,900 over 19,000, one tenth. If your leverage, meaning how much larger than its money an account may trade, differs from the provider's, the copy scales by that ratio too. The result is rounded down to your broker's lot step, and below the smallest lot there is no copy. On the real trade of 25 August 2026 the provider's 1.00 lot became 0.10 on your account.

A reducing copier

Picture a reducing copier. The page going in is the provider's trade, 1.00 lot; the page coming out is yours, 0.10, the same trade at a tenth of the size. The dial reads 10 percent, but it is not set by hand. It is the ratio of the two accounts, your loaded money over the provider's, worked out fresh for every trade. If the provider's account grows and yours does not, the dial turns down on its own, and if yours grows, it turns up.
