What Is Data Snooping
Data snooping is trying many rules on the same bars and keeping the one that worked, which fools because with enough tries something always works, and the cure is to write the rule first and count every try. This paper shows you snooping in five lines; the idea as darts thrown first and a target painted round the best one; the week of March 2026 when the plain rule lost most, with the pair that would have won it marked on real hourly bars; the best of 276 pairs in every one of 27 weeks, never once below zero; and the Journal tab on your platform, the only place the looks are counted.
